The last test between India and West Indies ended in draw as everyone knows. Since the playing hours in Indian time is midnight, most of the people know or not, that was not a drawn match by itself but 'called off draw match' , which means, captains of both the teams agreeing on going for a draw.
It would have been good if they had not played that at all or deciding and going for a ''draw'' after the toss itself!! Since they just wanted a series win, not exactly a 2-0 itself.
Yes!! India had more than an hour of play, 87 runs in 90 balls. which ofcourse was tough to score but not impossible in cricket. atleast they could have played for remaining overs, since there is no other test match nearby nor any ODI/T20, if they give reason as fatigue. There is good enough rest time before England Tour.
I got only 1 question in my mind when i came to know this result. How can the captain/ Team management take such decisions ? They are paid in lakhs to play a test match, if i am not wrong, every test player gets 3 lakhs per match he plays other than the contract amount. when they are paid for this, how can they tell they will not play ??? So unfair and completely unacceptable. I really feel bad that there is nobody to question them? Neither the BCCI not any other governing body.
Now, coming to the match stats, I feel India dropped out chances in 3 ways.
1. WI were 8 down at 256 and the last 2 wickets costed 40 overs and 66 Runs.
2. India did not even try to play the whole match
3. No player showed the aggressiveness to reach the target.
Atleast 2 or more slogging overs would have made the target achievable. But they did not even try being the No.1 Ranked team in the world. If you see Aus cricket, you will feel proud about them, They will never give up. Thats the reason they ruled the last decade of cricket.
I wish India cricket team would take up challenges in future. after all thats all we can do. :)
